Grant Recipients 2023
It’s no secret that REALTORS® make a significant impact in our communities by volunteering their time, raising funds through campaigns and events, and donating to important causes.
Recently, Manitoba REALTORS® Shelter Foundation governors visited shelter-related charities to provide grants to support Manitoba’s most vulnerable people.
Since 2008, the foundation has provided 136 grants to 42 different shelter-related Manitoba charities totalling over a half-million dollars.
This year, the foundation granted $29,295.50 to the following deserving charities:
- Association for Community Living – Interlake Branch:
- Funds granted for purchase and installation of new shingles for one of the clients’ homes
- South Central Committee on Family Violence (Genesis House Shelter) – Winkler, MB:
- Funds granted for new pillows, sheet sets, duvets, towels, and mattress protectors for the five bedrooms in the shelter
- Hospitality House Refugee Ministry:
- Funds granted for the purchase of seven new beds for the residents’ home
- House of Hesed:
- Funds granted in support of replacing the roof
- Knowles Centre:
- Funds granted in support of purchasing new furniture for the living space, including a leather sectional, chairs, area rug, end tables, a coffee table and TV table, and artwork
- Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (Welcome Place):
- Funds granted towards the purchase of a commercial grade washer/dryer set for the refugee newcomer residents
- Manitoba Tipi Mitawa:
- Funds granted for the basic home maintenance education session which the First Nations applicant families will attend
- The Link (Sir Hugh John Memorial Hostel):
- Funds granted in support of the purchase of a dining room table and to upgrade the cookware, silverware, and plateware in the youth resource centre kitchen
- The Link (Sir Hugh John Memorial Hostel) – Thompson, MB:
- Funds granted in support of the purchase of board games, multigame table, bookshelf, stand mixer, dressers, suitcases, duffle bags and bean bag chair for the youth emergency shelter
